Throughout history and in various thought traditions, philosophy has treated “reality” as a key concept. In tandem with this philosophical treatment the cluster aims to deploy the concept of “performance” as it exists in performance arts and thus encourage a philo-artistic investigation of reality-making and interpreting practices.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Contemporary philosophy, both continental and analytic, has questioned the classical divisions between subjective and objective reality. These ideas have redefined the boundaries of what is \u201creal\u201d.

Experimental performing arts and cinema use reality as a creative material, exploring equally critically the perceived split between the objective (linked to context) and the subjective (or the expressive, marked by actors and the audience).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The dialogue between philosophy and performance is not limited to Western traditions. This cluster seeks to broaden the perspective by encouraging global and comparative approaches.
